Illuminations

Illuminations

Illuminations was a short lived rock band based out of Gowanus, Brooklyn from the years 2007 - 2009. The group was led by songwriter/guitarist Zachary Cale, and founded with long time friends Ryan Johnson, Kris Benedict and Phil Glauberzon. Equally inspired by the plugged-in folk rock of albums like Highway 61 Revisited, Zuma and the power pop aesthetics of Big Star and Tom Petty, Illuminations embraced elements of country, folk, blues and punk to form their own brand of American rock music.

AHE-04 PJ GLAUBERZON - Cubicle Puppets - CDR: $6
Phil Glauberzon steps out from behind the piano of the band Illuminations, to present an album of kaleidoscopic proportions. PJ's debut is a homegrown batch of songs that could be thought of as a concept album. The songs unfold like miniature movies with scenes and characters that move between dream and reality. Similar in feeling to the mellow pop of Paul McCartney's Ram and the comical wit of Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy, Cubicle Puppets is musically diverse and fluid in execution, shifting from dreamy pop to wistful balladry.
